So many seniors do not like being call Senior Citizens as
many Marketers have come to realize. Many seniors will
not read a blog “For the Elderly” or contact and organization
that supports aging “seniors.” Quite the opposite, any company
catering to the 65-plus audiences should present their products
and services as solutions that will keep mature adults active,
healthy and ready to live independently.

After six years “Seniors Magazine” had to change the tile of
their magazine to “Living Well Magazine” in order to gain
the interest of their target market.

Today’s boomers are and will be rewriting retirement. Retirement
as previous generations knew it will Never happen again because
boomers are retiring to Do something. They’re either doing it by living
their dreams or doing something exciting. They will not ever retire to
the rocking chair and wait for something exciting to happen they
make it happen and are loving it.

Things my Mother told me! “Clutter attracts clutter”.

When you plop something “here for now” does that one item seems to multiply?

You drop a bag of items from the store by the door because you don’t
feel like putting them away right now.

You set the mail on the counter “for now” because you don’t have
time to deal with it now.

If you deal with each item as soon as you bring it into your home,
things will not multiply and your surface areas will remain neat and tidy.

If you develop a habit of putting things away as you use them this soon
becomes a behaviour that will be continued.

Your hallways and doorways remain clutter free and you eliminate safety hazards.

Dealing with the mail on a daily basis has many benefits: you will eliminate flyers
and junk mail, create a folder for bills, and a folder for things to be dealt with latter.

At the same time every month take out your bill folder and pay your bills,
this could even save you money for early payment; check your
“To deal with later folder” staying on top of upcoming events.

Now you are in control, you are on your way to a clutter free home.

You might think your mind is not as cluttered as your closet or drawer.
Go right ahead and tell yourself that.

When you are finally honest with yourself, however, you will look inside
that kitchen drawer, filled with old batteries, twist ties, expired coupons,
spent candles, and half-empty matchbooks, and you will see, instead of a
drawer a mirror.

There are those who will tell you that certain corners of your house,
certain areas of your life, need to be cleared before you can channel
your energy and be successful.

I am telling you that if any corner of your life is cluttered and blocked,
you will be locked in a permanently stalled position; not able to move
forward or back.

Clear your mind, be open to change and you will be able to transition

Things My Mother Told Me: Clutter is a safety hazard, eliminate the clutter and reduce the risk of home accidents. Put things you use daily in easy to access places.

Kitchen:
Lower cupboards are best or frequently used items.
Get rid of things not often used.
Eliminate the need for step stools/ladders.

Bathroom:
Store only bathroom supplies in this room.
Use rubber backed scatter rugs.
Keep floor surfaces clear.

Bedroom:
Are you storing stuff you will never use again?
Consider your lifestyle today! What do you wear most often?
Get rid of items no longer wanted or needed.

Storage Area:
Frequently used items should be within easy reach.
For safety and ease, eliminate what you can do without.

Telephone:
Consider a cordless phone.
A portable phone can go with you from
room to room; an excellent safety feature.

Voice mail:
Allow maximum number of rings.
No need to rush to the phone, you can
return call at your leisure.

Rightsizing is an emotional journey of trial and error that leads to simplifying your surroundings,
allowing you to focus on what matters most; family, friends and the pursuit of your passions.
The ultimate goal is to live your best life.

Rightsizing is a process, not an event, its outcome has more to do with “getting it right”
of the equation than size. It involves not just the square footage of a person’s living
space, but an approach to all aspects of living, holding out the opportunity to finally
“get it right”.

Rightsizing is an approach that enables us to create new surroundings that will
profoundly impact the way we feel and behave.…all for the better!

Rightsizing is the way we live our lives and can lead to a simplification and
de-cluttering; even redesigning your entire environment. It can result in a
move to a smaller, friendly space or to a larger home that better suits your needs.

The rightsizing process involves physical and emotional upheaval resulting in a
reinvention of our inner self and personal values.

Rightsizing involves major life changes that provide an opportunity for you to
define your vision and make it a reality for the life you want to live.
